The soothing bus stop

This project was in collaboration with Västtrafik and Volvo Buses and the task was given to find an issue with waiting for the bus and try to increase the user experience. As females most of us recognize the uneasy feeling that can arise when waiting for the bus late at night. We evaluated if this was a problem and what the needs might be. Many women as well as men acknowledge the uneasy feeling when waiting for the bus at certain hours and had several coping strategies to handle it. It was decided to design a bus stop that did not increase security in the sense of alarms or surveillance cameras etc, but with the help of shape and form create a more soothing waiting experience for the user. This resulted in a more open bus stop with a high ceiling and influx of natural and soft material. The result ended up being very appreciated and presented several times for different parts of the organizations.
